Dan the Handyman :)

I learned something this weekend, never stick potato peels into a disposal in a sink. I managed to clog our sink up pretty good...luckily my handsome husband came to the rescue!!! :) Below are pictures of his heroic handyman efforts:

It's about time...

Dan and I have been married for a little over a year and we've never put up any family pictures, except for the few Christmas cards that were on the fridge for a while. Today, that changed. We finally put up some picture!!! Of course that is easier to do now that we have our adorable baby boy. It's not much so far, just 3 pictures all in the same frame, but it's a start. :) I like these three pictures very much so I thought I'd share them. Two were taken by my friend, Elsie. She is an AMAZING photographer, check out her blog.

Yogurt....

I have NEVER liked yogurt, at all. I've always had the hardest time eating it. I just couldn't get past the after taste, I hated it. I would try it periodically to see if my taste bud changed at all, but to no avail. Yogurt and I seemed destined to be enemies for eternity....at least until recently.

When I was pregnant with James, I was GBS positive. GBS stands for Group Beta Strep, basically it had no impact on me, but unless I was given an antibiotic during labor, there was a risk that James could get very sick. So I got the antibiotic and everything was fine...until I found out that the antibiotic also killed all my good bacteria, leaving me susceptible to yeast infections, which I could then pass on to James...NOT GOOD. When I asked the nurse about it, she just, "Just eat yogurt and you'll be fine, the yogurt will replace the good bacteria that was lost." Eat yogurt?!? I was devastated. But, I didn't want to risk getting a yeast infection and pass it on to my baby so I decided to choke down some yogurt the next day.

At the hospital, they have a menu that patients can order their food from. They had plain yogurt on there and a yogurt parfait thing that had yogurt, berries, and granola. I decided to start with the parfait thing because I like berries and granola so I hoped that would make it slightly more tolerable. I did not care for the yogurt that much, but it was not as bad as I remembered it being.

When we got home from the hospital, Dan bought a big container of Vanilla yogurt and a box of granola for me. At first, my bowls of yogurt were mostly granola with a little yogurt mixed in. Now, amazingly enough, I can eat yogurt without granola added. It's a miracle! :) Still, I like to add granola because I like granola. This morning I also added strawberries...so good!

Date night and the evil duck...

Last Friday, I took Dan out on a date, James was our chaperon. :) We started the night by going to watch my little brother's baseball team play in pre-season scrimmage game. We then stopped by In-N-Out and got some dinner. We took our food down to the Botany Pond at BYU, but due to a lack of a blanket, we decided to eat in the car. After we ate, we went for a walk. Our family self portrait was long over due, so I brought a camera so that Dan could remedy that situation. As you can see, that resulted in a new picture on our blog. :)

We decided to walk along the path above the botany pond because they recently redid all of the landscaping and we hadn't seen it since they finished it. It is beautiful. While we were walking along, we saw some ducks playing in the little stream by the pathway. There was a boy duck and a girl duck. I was trying to get a good picture of them when a second demonic/evil/creepy looking male duck flew in and chased out the female duck. I got a great picture of him...

Other than that, we had a very pleasant walk I took some pictures of the updated pathway and Dan took some really great pictures of the sun setting.
